His impassioned speech at the Hyde Park BLM rally in the summer of 2020, was thought provoking and inspiring. The London-born actor has taken Hollywood by storm over the last few years. Rising to fame as Finn in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Boyega has gone on to star in films such as 2017's Detroit, and 2018's Pacific Rim: Uprising. Boyega closed out the Star Wars sequel trilogy, by reprising his role as Finn in 2018's Star Wars: The Last Jedi and 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Boyega has also used his fame to speak out about issues of racial discrimination. In a 2020 interview with British GQ, Boyega openly criticised Disney over the sidelining of his character Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy by commenting, "What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It's not good. I'll say it straight up."
